SAGIA’s mission
is to achieve rapid economic growth in the Saudi Arabian
economy by creating a pro-business environment, providing
comprehensive services to investors and fostering investment
opportunities in key sectors of the economy. In pursuit of
this mission, SAGIA has recently announced the launch of 4
Greenfield, privately developed economic cities across the
nation.
Through the
Economic Cities initiative, SAGIA aspires to rapidly develop
vibrant, prosperous cities with an unparalleled
business-friendly environment that leverages Saudi Arabia’s
core economic advantages: abundance of low cost energy and
its strategic location.
To ensure the
prosperity of these Economic Cities, SAGIA will dedicate
significant effort and resources to the management of 4 key
strategic priorities. Together, these strategic priorities
will complement one another to ensure that the economic
cities achieve rapid and sustainable growth:
|
Offering a
business friendly environment: through the Economic
Cities, SAGIA will provide a best-in-class regulatory
environment that offers attractive investment
regulations and incentives, unmatched regulatory
performance and efficiency, and sustainable
competitiveness to investors. |
 |
| Offering world-class infrastructure:
the Economic Cities’ “greenfield” status makes them a
unique platform for driving economic growth.
Accordingly, SAGIA will work with the developers to
ensure timely development of state-of-the-art,
custom-designed infrastructure facilities that offer
unparalleled business services and efficient access to
the local, regional, and global markets. |
 |
| Development based on global
competitiveness: the core driver of job creation and
economic growth in the economic cities will be the
development of globally competitive and well
integrated business clusters. Accordingly, SAGIA, in
coordination with the developers, will aim to leverage
the country’s massive, untapped potential in
energy-intensive industries, such as aluminum and
petrochemicals, all the way from upstream inputs to
downstream end-products and services. |
 |
| Development of cities, not zones: the
aim for the economic cities is to rapidly grow beyond
“free zone” or “industrial park” status into vibrant
and prosperous cities. SAGIA and the developers will
therefore aim to offer an attractive lifestyle for
professionals and families, and a compelling value
proposition for a diverse set of business activities
that can carry the economic cities beyond their core
|
 |
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has now embarked on an
ambitious and visionary journey to empower its people and
make its land prosperous and successful in the international
arena; and through the Economic Cities initiative, it has
drawn up a clear and actionable development plan, and a
compelling path to success.
